Parenting Tip of the Month

PARENTING TEENAGERS

As your teenager becomes more independent you may feel that you are losing contact with them. They may begin spending more time with their friends, hanging out in their rooms, going to sporting commitments or other activities and just generally not being around. Don’t despair! Look for opportunities that provide quality time. Dinner at the table altogether a few times a week is always a great way to catch up. Chatting over the dishes or a quick catch up before bedtime can keep the communication links open. And for more meaningful times together find out what your teenager enjoys and even if you don’t enjoy it, make the effort to do that activity together every now and then. The time you take now will insure a quality relationship with your teenager for years to come.
