Internet Safety - Assistance for Parents
Student Services at Woodvale SHS has a key role in protecting the emotional, psychological and personal health and safety of all students. As a result we see daily the impact the internet and digital technology has on the lives of our young people. While the internet and digital technology, including mobile phones, provide extraordinary possibilities in terms of creativity, research and connection, it can also generate some very real dangers to a student’s wellbeing if used improperly. Our solution to this problem is to engage the whole school community in this fast changing area, so we have purchased ‘Cybersurvivor’ a web based resource that is accessible by students, teachers and parents. It is divided up into three modules: Student Module, Teacher Module and Parent Module.
We are inviting parents to complete the parent module online. Alternatively we will offer to show the content at a parent evening. Cybersurvivor offers parents ten resource videos online with topics including:
-
Understanding differences between perpetrators, victims and bystanders
-
Consequence
-
Prevention
-
Legal Issues
-
Tips, Strategies and Processes
To access the Parent Module online parents need to:
- Go to - www.choicez.com.au or to the school site at www.woodvale.wa.edu.au

Other sites online that parents may find useful are www.cyberbullyingstories.org.au www.thinkuknow.org.au www.cybersmart.gov.au
We believe there is much parents need to know so they can help us to bring about a whole school approach to this issue.
