The Commissioner for Children and Young People, Colin Pettit, recently released the findings from his consultation with 1,812 WA primary and secondary school students on the factors that influence their engagement in school and learning. This consultation was undertaken with the support of the Department of Education and there are clear findings that are relevant for principals, teachers, school staff and parents/carers of school-aged children.

To share what WA children say helps and hinders them in their education, the Commissioner will be holding free seminars for school staff and parents/caregivers. The seminars will provide valuable insight and practical information that can be used to help improve education outcomes for all students.

While these seminars are free, bookings are essential and can be made through the below link.

Further information on the engagement in education consultation is available through the Commissioner’s website.
