Woodvale SHS Media students win RAC Fame competition
Woodvale Senior High School has claimed the prestigious top prize in the RAC Fame competition.
The four students, Josh Fraser, Anthony DiBlasi, Ben Murphy and Ben
Santostefano, took out first place in the film category for their entry
‘It’s not a Game’. This was also voted as the best overall entry with
the judges awarding the Woodvale team the Grand Final prize.
Kiara Cockroft and Melissa Jackson also won third prize in the poster
section with their entry “Drugs and driving – its not worth the
trip”
The RAC’s Community Ed Manager Simon Danby said the students work
conveyed a strong message to young drivers.
“The boys from Woodvale have excelled themselves in creating this film.
It portrays an in-depth message in a way that young drivers will
clearly understand and it encapsulates everything the RAC Fame
competition is about,” Mr Danby said.
The RAC’s Fame competition challenged students in years 10, 11 and 12
to create a road safety advertisement in the form of a film, poster or
online banner. All entries had to contain a road safety message about
drinking, drugs, speed, fatigue, distractions or seatbelts.
This year 136 entries were received.
As grand final winners, the team from Woodvale won an FTI Creative
Youth workshop of their choice and the school will receive a Panasonic
DV camcorder and tripod.
