Senior School

Senior School

Students in Years 11 – 12 are in the final years of formal schooling and enjoy their status as leaders as they develop into young adults. College staff work with students to prepare them for the life after schooling, whether this is accessing further education or employment. There are many exciting opportunities available to students in senior school as they continue to explore and refine their future goals. The options are many and varied and the need for discussions with parents and others remains very important.

Flex Day

Our Year 12 students have their courses timetabled on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. This leaves Thursday (Flex Day) available for students to complete VETdSS TAFE courses, engage in ECU UniPrep, complete Off-Grid Certificates, undertake work placements and internships or use the time to study for exams or tests. Flex Day activities are guided by student voice as the Flex Day team uses survey information to design a timetable of opportunities for students to develop life skills and enrich their portfolio of experience. This has included short courses in interview preparation, barista basics, car maintenance and the opportunity to complete the RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) qualification. Our students are assigned mentors who they can meet regularly to access differentiated study skills support, set targets and improve their results.

Through Flex Day, Year 12 students are challenged to take responsibility for their own engagement and involvement. This is balanced by careful monitoring by the Flex Team as all of our Year 12s are supposed to participate. Woodvale students will transition from the College with a range of formal and informal learning that adds depth and breadth to their WASSA (Western Australian Statement of Student Achievement).

Events you can attend as a Year 11- 12 parent.

Parent Information Nights are held at key times during year to communicate important information about upcoming processes and events and to give parents an opportunity to ask questions. We hold parent interview nights two times a year where you can talk directly to your child’s teacher. Teachers are also available through email, telephone or via SEQTA
