Design and Technology recent projects

Many exciting projects are being completed by our Design and Technology students.

The Year 12 cohort has been busy developing their wooden briefcases in Materials Design and Technology Wood. The students have created some fabulous looking work, and have been able to utilise the laser in Technical Graphics.

Year 11 students are developing a bedside table by glue laminating timber together. Students are designing metal inlays for the side of their bedside table and cutting them out with the College’s CNC Plasma Cutter. There will be some wonderful projects and skills being developed over the coming semester.

Year 10s are about to kick off on their community group project in woodwork where rocking horses are donated to children’s groups and charities.  The projects are completed in groups to educate students on collaborative learning, working in teams and to foster a sense of giving in the students. The program has been run at Woodvale for the last four years with projects donated to Beldon Education Support Centre, Joondalup Education Support Centre, The Autism Association of Western Australia, the Department of Child Protection, Creaney Education Support Centre and The Pat Giles Women and Children’s Refuge. We are looking forward to some fabulous workmanship this year from our three Year 10 woodwork classes.
