Synergy Schools Solar Challenge

The two Year 8 A-stream Science classes have been working on the Synergy Schools Solar Challenge. Students have built and tested solar-powered cars kindly donated by Synergy and the Science Teachers Association of WA.

Students have had to work out the best combination of wheel sizes, gear ratios and solar panel angles. Mrs Warr’s class winners “Blazers”, consisting of Riley S, Dan Z , Jordan R and Josh M raced Mrs Siciliano’s “JKLK” team, consisting of Jake M, Kevin C, Luke M and Kaine N. The greatly anticipated grand final took place on a gloriously sunny day and we are pleased to announce that team “JKLK” will be representing Woodvale Secondary College at the Northern Metro challenge at Warwick SHS next week.

Well done to all students involved in this STEM activity.
