Basketball

The Woodvale Specialist Basketball Program gives students the opportunities to achieve success and reach their potential in the game of Basketball. The College provides elite level teaching and learning programs that allow each student to improve in all aspects of the game. The College teams consistently perform outstandingly at both State and National levels.  

 

In this program students are given the opportunity to participate in Basketball camps, Champion Schools Competitions, strength and conditioning development, officiating programs, guest coach presentations and more.  

 

The Woodvale Basketball student develops: 

  • Individual, team, refereeing, coaching and statistical analysis skills 
  • Understanding of the skill requirements of basketball and analysis of individual skill performance and team structures  
  • Understanding of the physiological requirements for basketball at an elite level which includes: – undertaking Sports Medicine Australia training programs including first aid and injury prevention and management – training in information relating to diet and nutrition. 
  • Knowledge of basketball related fitness testing and development programs in the aim of improving individual fitness levels. 

 

Partnerships

We partner with Mecca Sports to produce our Basketball uniforms. Students are required to purchase a jersey and shorts for the program.

We also partner with KOIX to produce Woodvale branded Basketball shoes.

Commitment to the Program

Students accepting a place in the Specialist Basketball Program are expected to continue to study basketball to the end of Year 9 as a minimum. 

Applications must be submitted in person to the College Front Office. Please ensure you bring all supporting documentation with you.

 

Postal applications will only be accepted if applicant resides outside of the Perth Metropolitan area in which case certified copies of proof of residency must be submitted.

Documents required for applicants not currently enrolled in the College

  • Application for Enrolment Form
  • Birth Certificate or Passport & Visa Information or Australian Citizenship Certificate
  • Latest two school reports
  • Proof of Address
    • Current rates notice or Lease agreement
  • Copies of two utility bills
  • Immunisation records – must be an AIR immunisation history statement
  • Copies of Family Court or any other court orders (if applicable)
  • Documents with information relating to any diagnosed disability (if applicable)
