Physical Education is a compulsory subject for all students in Years 7 to 10. The sports chosen for each year group have been carefully selected to suit the needs of the majority of our students. Teachers may use some discretion for any classes with particular interests or especially high or low skill levels and adjust the program accordingly.

Woodvale provides all students the opportunity to participate in the Interhouse Swimming (usually Division A or B) and Interhouse Athletics (Division A or B) carnivals, as well as Winter Lightning Carnival days for each year group. In addition, sports such as Athletics, Baseball, Basketball, Cricket, Cross Country, Australian Football (Girls & Boys), Golf, Netball, Rugby, Football (Soccer), Softball, Swimming, Tennis, Touch Rugby and Triathlon may be available at interschool competition level.
Outdoor Education is an optional subject in Years 9 and 10 and is offered as a General Subject in Years 11 and 12. Outdoor Education aims to provide students the skills and experiences to safely enjoy the marine and terrestrial environments – snorkelling, kayaking, orienteering, fishing, body boarding, camping and bushwalking are a few activities. The planning skills and actual physical skills needed for a number of outdoor pursuits are developed.
