Principal’s Message

Principal’s Message

Welcome to 2022 at Woodvale Secondary College, an Independent Public School that empowers, challenges and supports students in Years 7-12 to be future-ready.

Woodvale Secondary College has long been a school of choice for families in the Kingsley/Woodvale area and has built on its reputation of excellent academic results, sporting opportunities, outstanding pastoral care, and a commitment to serving its wider community.

At Woodvale, we focus on a holistic education that emphasises the development of well-rounded young persons who are confident in moving to the wider world equipped with the skills that they will need.

There are many points of difference at Woodvale that contribute to this:

    • A comprehensive transition program for Year 7 students that begins in Year 6 and continues well into Year 8
    • Our superior ICT focus that sees every student with a laptop and every teacher upskilled in their application to teaching and learning
    • Our breadth of course offerings in senior school
    • Out specialist programs
    • Our focus on the pursuit of excellence
    • Our extensive co-curricular program that encourages service beyond self
    • Our embedded social and emotional wellbeing program that is evident in every learning area and supported by our Student Services team

We see it as our responsibility to provide numerous opportunities and programs for all members of our College community to learn and develop a sense of personal worth and connection. Our three core values of respect, responsibility and relationships provide the foundation for this and are embedded in all that we do.

Good teaching is at the forefront of everything we do. A clear focus on Every student, every classroom, every day ensures that your child is supported in the best possible way to achieve their potential.

We pride ourselves on the relationships that we develop with students and their families.  This is achieved through regular College to home contact, the availability of our staff, our dedicated Student Services team, and our commitment to the social and emotional wellbeing of every student.

In these uncertain times, we know that families really value the fact that we continue to offer all students many opportunities to achieve their personal best.  This is going to look different for every child.  It may also look different as the year unfolds, as we adjust to new government mandates and to the prolonged effects of the pandemic.  We ask that families continue to work with us as we navigate the changing landscape every day!

In the meantime, please know that we remain absolutely committed to our mission:

To empower, challenge and support our students.

I invite you to visit our College and attend a College tour to gain personal experience of our College.

Kind regards,

Lea Fairfoul-Hutcheon on behalf of the Executive Team
